The South Korean police have
placed an order for three additional Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) KUH-1P
Surion helicopters.
The three aircraft
will add to the five KUH-1Ps already in police service, says KAI. The
rotorcraft will be delivered in 2020.
The KUH-1P, which
bears the name "Chamsuri", is especially well suited for long range
missions to South Korea’s islands, says KAI. Its hoist is also complemented by
cameras that allow the crew to more easily see people on the ground in
mountainous regions.
The first two
examples entered service in December 2013.
