Israeli
unmanned air system developer UVision has demonstrated its Hero 400EC
extended-range loitering weapon system to what it describes as a
"strategic customer".
Conducted in southern Israel last month, the
activity "proved the tracking and lock-on capabilities of the system using
a moving vehicle and a human target in various operational scenarios", the
company says. It also demonstrated its precision-strike and mission-abort
performance.
With a cruciform design chosen to enable highly
accurate terminal engagement, the Hero 400EC has a 2.4m (7.8ft) wingspan and a
maximum launch take-off weight of 40kg (88lb), including a 10kg warhead.
Deployed using a rail launcher or from a canister,
the weapon has a 2h endurance, with a data link enabling a maximum range of
81nm (150km). Its operating ceiling is 18,000ft, with a transit speed of 150kt
(277km/h) and a loitering speed of 50kt.
